Yumm, Pellegrini’s my favorite!
From San Francisco to Lamorinda.
San Francisco is such a fabulous place to visit… The sights, sounds, the bay and the FOOD!
I live in Lafayette, a town that is part of LaMorinda. Oftentimes I find myself working in the city on the weekends at Open Houses for Envisage Real Estate, or visiting developments that are under construction by Envisage Companies– (yes, I work for both companies) this gives me the opportunity to find great restaurants.
What’s the hype is all about.
It is right next to our project on 590 Lombard Street. (currently undergoing a massive renovation) It was our kind of place right away -and it didn’t take long for us to become regulars!
The food is really great, the ambiance is fun & lively, with an open kitchen for viewing, a small bar and seating for customers inside and outside seating with heating. (our favorite spot of course!)
Our names became known by the authentic Italian waiters quickly. Our favorite waiter, Vincent, always took great care of us at every visit!
Alas, we had not visited in some time as we had a big project to concentrate on in Orinda.
One night after the open house we went to downtown Orinda and saw a new little restaurant with the name Taverna Pellegrini and decided to go there.
“How odd that it has almost the same name” we thought, and reminisced about our favorite place in SF as we walked in the door… suddenly there was Vincent! Our favorite waiter!
What are you doing here he exclaimed! And we said the exact same back to him! He explained that they opened this “Sister Restaurant” and he was in now in charge.
Our happiness is complete! We don’t have to drive to San Francisco for our authentic Italian food, ambiance and waiters. Last week when we visited, they even had someone singing Italian music…a piece of heaven resides in Orinda! I guarantee it!
PS…my favorite dish is Fettucine ai Gamberoni ~ Shrimp with Peas, scallions, ina chardonnay saffron sauce
